Razors Shift Inline Skate – REVIEW

These are the Razors Shift skates. They’re the new top of the line skate from Razors and retail for around $300 US. The boot includes an internal heel pad shock absorber like the Razors SL series, the same style you found in the old Salomon skates from the 90’s.

The liner is thick and features the new heel retention system, which helps keep your foot in the back of the boot. They come stock with Ground control Featherlite 3 UFS frames with 64mm wheels with ABEC 9 bearings and anti rockers.

The hallmark feature though is the new Instant Frame Change system. The base is a two part system, the soul and the slider. By pressing the two IFC buttons, you can remove the slider and then the soul plate.

Because the frames mount to the soul plate using UFS, this means you can get another set of soul plates and change your frames without having to get to the UFS bolts. Extra soul plates run around $40 for the set. It also means that as you wear down the soul plate from grinding, you can easily replace the sliders, which run around $20 a set.

Disclosure: Razors gave me a discount on purchasing these skates with no expectations.

Want to purchase a new set of skates and I was recommended these. Haven’t skated for 10+ years…..it’s this the best brand to go for? Cheers

Lev Filimonov says:

Thank you for inspiration! I didn’t skate for 14 years. Bought Razors shifts just last week and skate every day since. I feel that I got my life back

Ethan Ramos says:

what size skate is in this video?

Kyle Adams says:

Where did you buy the free skate frames? Can you link to where you get the exact setup you have?

Andy Wegener says:

Very well made!

James Towers says:

Hey man,

Very recent subscriber here!
Great video & great review.

Your local park looks like a load of fun, would love to cut loose in there.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents- I noticed towards the end of the video, whilst you were doing your wrap up in front of all the parts/accessories that the audio was out of sync.

Look forward to more videos!

Storm Walden says:

How well does the boot serve for walking if the soul plate and the slider are removed?
That is, would this skate be a practical alternative to Doop/Xsjado-style skates for (for example) skating to the store, removing the base plates to walk around the store, reattaching the base plates once one is done shopping, and skating home?

Franco Cerella says:

Keep up the good work .

Chris Mousdale says:

Great review – do you still find the souls fast after that many grinds? I’m fed up of slow soul sliding skates.

81Garret says:

Great review! All encompassing!

Brandon Brush says:

Did you need to modify your Shifts to fit your Oysi frames like you did with your SL3s?

Also, just recently found your channel through your podcast on iTunes. Really digging your videos and they are encouraging to anyone trying to get back to blading. I tried to expand my rollerblading skills to the skatepark when I was in high school but I never followed through. I’m back at it now, skating a few times a week in skates that are 2 sizes too small that I got roughly 8-10 years ago. Looking at some shifts for myself in the fall! Loving your videos and thorough reviews.

Al Dolega says:

Great job Law! Love the graphics and the fact that you included actual empirical data and measurements.

Joshua Nelson says:

Hello my wife got me my first skates in 18 years and I did research and I got the razor shift they seem very tight like I would never need to lace them will they break in I’m really nervous they won’t please let me know they really are tight on the top of my foot I have a high arch but that’s not the issue is it

Edward Taylor says:

Really good review! Actual measurements!!! Amazing, really enjoying the videos

Renato Colaço says:

Very informative. Thanks.

gentamatsui says:

When do you think these would go on sale?

BravestDays says:

excellent review

Ricardo Carvalho says:

Did you need buy the white soul plate, or it is include?

patster82 says:

Great Review, a lot better than the review from razors!
BTW: I’m from Germany and also on the road ‘back to blading’.
I had some great years in aggressive skating during my youth. Now I’m middle 30 and since this year I’m trying to get back to older days. It’s a lot harder to skate, I know what you’re talking about. Just keep on doing these videos, it’s a great motivation for me. Thanks!
