Electric skateboards have really taken off lately, and it’s not that unusual to see someone zip by in your city, or catch your favorite youtuber cruising the streets recording the action with their gopro. As battery technology improves, and the overall industry progresses Electric skateboards have become more prevalent and more affordable. While top models such as the original boosted run around 1-2000 bucks, there are tons of good budget options to choose from that will put the wind on your face with that gentle and satisfying hum of the electric motor as you surf the streets of the future.

Bernard Kudulis says:

The issue with all these cheaper options is that they tend to break and might take months to get fixed or replaced. I bought Koowheel 1 year and a few months ago. It wasn’t as advanced as it is the latest one now, but I loved it. After 30 miles on London roads one wheel stopped working and then the whole thing went off. Contacted support, sent it back. After 2 weeks I’ve got the response that it can’t be fixed and needs to be replaced. So 6 weeks in, I was losing hope and becoming desperate. I looked at more expensive options that would be reliable.

Lo and behold I discovered evolve bamboo gt with All terrain tires (it cost me 1400£) but I’ve been riding it daily for the last 1 year without any issues. Support is local and super helpful.

So if you want a toy to play with, get one of the cheap ones. If you want to commute like I do (10km+ daily) think about investing money to have less headache. I’m still on a lookout for the smaller board which I could put in a backpack or carry lightly, but I am avoiding all these unknown brands as they break too often. Just write the name on Google and type broken or issue next to it, do your research and make an informed decision. Good luck! Happy riding!
